What pushes an artist to create and go the extra-mile in a market that seems to not accept their craft? Well for Summit Boahen, it is the opportunity to bend reality to his will and share his stories with the world. After putting out two beat tapes, Shinigami I and II, Summit Boahen puts out self-titled ep, which happens to be his third studio ep after Wolves Beta-Test and The Minimalist Project.
The ep is a re-introduction to an artist well known for his complex rap language and cultural references. The album which initially was called Sage of Six Paths (another reference to anime) was changed to his name to push the brand further and add resonance to his name. The artist delivers slow wavy raps with a soft accent over smother beats that brings a sincerity and warmth to his vocals as he talks about his darkness, his light and how he sees himself in the game.
The album is made up of 4 songs namely; iron mine, thusly I tell thee, the whisper and zoob. He collabs with long-time working mates, KQ the artist, Kwame Universe, SoBeatz on production and the silky smooth vocals of Ehu to bring together an incredible body of work. Looking into the future, the artist hopes to work more on bringing a visual scope to his art via videos, shorts, interviews and performances.
