First Son – Kwame Nkrumah by Bebewan

Martin Luther had a dream
What you had was a vision
That together as a team
We can accomplish this mission
Of Self Governance
And fulfill the ambition
Of a United Africa
To stand firm as one strong pillar
Moved by nothing, but by our solidarity
Stand for nothing, but for ourselves
Believe in nothing, but in our ability
And take pride in what we are made of
By believing in what we have
Yes!Some of the things you longed for!

You said,
”Self-Government Now”
When you conventioned a party for the people
You played it everywhere like a radio jingle
One way or the other, it got to the people
The fire burning within was not hard to rekindle
So you radiated some to the people
Success is not achieved on a silver platter
And same can be said of Freedom
It was a long walk
Yet you manifested it in the shortest possible time

Here we stand today
Many years on

Some have dusted off your vision away
Many still hold on to it to pave the way
Your vision as a torch we hold it up high
Your vision like fire is still burning

Your first cried in the small known village of Nkroful
Born to the family of Ngonloma
Studied to be a teacher
Gain much knowledge by being a reader
Returned to the Gold Coast to be a leader
You saw the end from the beginning
Since we are still traveling
We seek your guidance

The future of Africa
Is in the hands of African’s
Home and Abroad
Invite everyone to get on board
As we captain our ship
To a safe shore
Let us not leave it to outsiders
Let us do it ourselves
Yes We Can!
This Is New Africa. #TINA
