FEATURED ARTICLE: FEEL LIKE GIVING UP AS AN UNDERGROUND ARTIST? READ THIS.

Before you get frozen with indecision and second guess your talent and your choice of hustle, make time to read this article as well as other featured articles on 5micsGh.com.

5micsGh is your home of original contents mainly on artist development, branding, promotion, marketing, social media in addition to other industry related write ups, reviews, featured polls and many more.

We all face disappointments. Sometimes we don’t get the views and the recognition that we expect as a brand and a platform, that is solely investing in original contents. As an artist, you may sometimes feel the world is not paying enough attention to your music. The truth is, we will always be faced with such and many more in any career or field of work.

Depression is real, especially when again and again you test the market with a potential ‘hit song’ and it doesn’t connect, when the numbers online are not encouraging and the hustle doesn’t seem to be paying off anytime soon. For most people the only way out is to quit.

Feel like giving up as an artist? Let’s call out three silent points and address them.

TRUST THE PROCESS; BE PATIENT

I’m sorry to break it to you, but ideal circumstances will never occur. There is nothing like overnight success in this industry. You will have to pay your dues accordingly. Even after you get lucky with a ‘hit song’ or achieve a level of success over time. You will have to work harder afterwards to keep the spot or else you will drop from the charts.

Artist development is very important. Never underestimate each step along the way, from the undiscovered stage to the mainstream or epic grounds. Trust the process and put in your best at every level. If one person gets lucky with a ‘hit song’ on his or her first single or second single. It doesn’t mean you that you are still in the process of developing and mastering your craft, you are a loser.

There is no defined path to the top. If it is a post, a tweet, a freestyle, a song, video, interview, performance, or anything that you have to do. Just do it! When duty calls, respond!

A clear example recently is when Sarkodie made the move to recruit new rappers for a song, not forgetting when Mr Eazi also gave other artists the opportunity. Whether you win or not, the fact is you gave it a shot. Your time will surely come.

FIND YOUR VOICE AND YOUR NICHE

Do you know what makes you unique as an artist? If not, spend time to figure that out and capitalize on it. If it is your personality, storytelling ability, writing style, word play, delivery?  All mixed up and delivered in the most concise and smart manner possible define your voice and your niche. You can make music about anything and everything, but first find your voice.

Nothing is impossible, when you set your mind to do something, inspiration finds you. Along this line, we will know you for what you stand for, and over time everything will connect organically.

What if people don’t like what you say in your music? The music that you make should be part your reality, hustle and real life experiences. Out of all, one will resonate with the masses.

DON’T LET THE INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA BULLY YOU

If you don’t believe in yourself and trust that you are on the right path, the internet and social media will bully you. Social media is a world created by man. Some just go with the flow and don’t actually keep it real on there.

People mostly hide behind fake accounts and do funny stuffs. Some think it’s ‘okay’ to be mean to people online, others think the best way to get attention is by being the odd one out with the worst comment about everything online.

The internet and social media is a tricky place to get real reactions to the music you put out. Like Kendrick Lamar said, the real reactions to a song naturally come out during the performance of the song.

The future is now, because the truth is if things are not easy now they won’t be any less difficult in the future. The more you have the guts to be yourself through thick and thin, the more unique your content will seem to be, and the more the fans will love you for it.
